Bulimba Barracks Master Plan & Neighbourhood Plan

Project Focus 

A major neighbourhood planning project involving high community interest, tight timeframes, and complex internal and external stakeholder coordination.

Vanessa's Role 

  • Project Manager for the consultation phase 

  • Led Council’s response to community engagement 

  • Reviewed submissions and prepared Council report 

  • Revised Neighbourhood Plan amendments 

  • Led internal stakeholder consultation and negotiation 

  • Delivered briefing session with the Ward Councillor

Outcome 

A well managed, transparent consultation process that delivered revised amendments reflecting community feedback while maintaining strategic planning intent. 

Yeerongpilly Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Neighbourhood Plan 

Project Focus 

A major TOD planning initiative requiring alignment between state and local government, and integration of landuse, transport and community outcomes. 
 

Vanessa's Role 

  • Reviewed the Yeerongpilly TOD State Planning Regulatory Provisions (SPRP) 

  • Consulted with internal stakeholders 

  • Drafted Council’s comments to Queensland Government 

  • Led preparation of a new Neighbourhood Plan 

  • Maintained regular consultation with State Department of Planning 


Outcome 

A Neighbourhood Plan that balanced state TOD objectives with local planning priorities, strengthening cross-government collaboration and supporting sustainable, transit focused growth. 

New Town Plan - Planning Scheme for the former Pine Rivers Shire Council  

Project Focus 

A multi-year, highly complex planning scheme project involving statutory processes, community consultation, state negotiations, and organisational coordination. 
 

Vanessa's Role 

  • Research, drafting, review, project management

  • Supervising Planner leading a team of five planners + GIS analyst 

  • Project Manager for the delivery of the new planning scheme 

  • Managed first and second State interest checks 

  • Led community consultation and submission review 

  • Delivered major amendments within one year of commencement 

  • Facilitated workshops with Councillors and senior management 

  • Presented reports to Council 

  • Negotiated with Queensland Government agencies 

 

Outcome 

A contemporary, robust planning scheme delivered on time and within budget, with strong governance, clear communication, and successful implementation.
